T.O.N.E-Z and Mars in Lubbock, TX

Whats up fam!  I am here with my official play by play of last weekends T.O.N.E-Z and Mars show at Jakes in Lubbock, TX.

Friday my cousin CJ and I drove into Lubbock to pick up T.O.N.E-Z and Big Ian from Faygoluvers.  Once we finally met face to face it was like we had been homies for ever.  Fri night we chilled out and ate at this bomb Mexican place called Mar Y Tierra.  It was some of the best mexican food I have had to date.  Then we headed back to the hotel and chilled out.  On a side note the folks at the Red Roof in are the bomb!  So we chilled out all night just waiting for Sat and our hella busy schedule.

Saturday finally came and we were up and at the breakfast by 8:30!  It was really good.  Had some fruit waffles and OJ.  Then we got dressed for the day and headed to the mall for more Promo.  We spent about 2 hours at the mall passing out flyers and having CJ filming T.O.N.E-Z meeting and taking photos.  While out we decided it would be a great idea to have my cousin shoot a music video for T.O.N.E-Z new track "Spotlight" off his High Voltage album.  We spent a little time at the studio that me and Draztik do our music at.  T.O.N.E-Z was able to meet our music producer Scott and get to see where the magic happens.  Then we had to go back to the hotel and pick up my boy Jay and my wife.  We all went out to lunch and had steak and seafood.  We dropped T.O.N.E-Z off at the hotel so he could catch a nap and it was off to Jakes for soundcheck.  All the openers were there and soundcheck went well.  Back to the hotel to get T.O.N.E-Z for the meet and greet.  It was a very intimate meet and greet with a few people there. Took T.O.N.E-Z back to the hotel so he could get ready for the show.  I went back to Jakes cause it was showtime.  We delayed the start about 30 min so people could trickle in.  Finally at 8:30 pm Worlds Kollide Records hit the stage for a devistating 20 min set.  After them came my homies Black Project Records, 806 Outlaw and Narkotixx, theyhit the stage and left nothing off.  After that the SKSCC crew hit it followed by Sikone aka Mickey Mangles and both of his groups, Tierrosos and S.M.K., the crowd was live.  Then my artists Draztik hit the stage for his first ever appearance.  He seemed nervous at first but once he fell into a comfort zone he killed it.  DRP was supposed to be next but fell ill and was replaced by Leaders of the Lost.  They did a really good set and had the crowd prepped for T.O.N.E-Z.  Once T.O.N.E-Z hit the stage it was obvious he was in his zone.  He killed old tracks, new tracks, and everything in between.  I overheard some in the crowd saying it was the best live show they had ever seen and I can't say I disagree.  After he left the stage the club cleared out.  Not sure why everyone left cause Mars was still having his set.  We got the people that had gone out for fresh air back in and Mars hit the stage.  He did his set and killed it for the 30-40 remaining people (much love to him for that).  The show was over.  I had finally had my first show and while financially it was unsuccessful there was a lot of good things that happened.

So the show was over and all of the remaining audience and all of the openers still there were able to hit the parking lot and be in the T.O.N.E-Z video!  We hope to get that released the next few weeks so be on the look out for that.  Thank you to all the Fam that came out and supported the show.  I appreciate all of you and love each and every one of you.  Thank you to all the acts that performed without you I would have had no show.  Mars and Mastamind is next so be on the lookout for that info!

All in all it was a good show.  Some things on the horizon for me, well I have 2 more groups that might possibly fall into the Wicked Butterfly Family, Mars and Mastamind will be in Lubbock July 12 to kill the underground scene, and Draztik has his album we need to finish and get out to you guys in Dec of this year!  So it will be a busy summer for your boy Juggalotus.  Be on the lookout as I post new info here and please go show any shows here in the Lubbock/Amarillo/Albuquerque area  underground scene some love.  The promoters around here hustle hard to make this area a viable stop on any Psychopathic tour and if we can't show them how strong the family is here we might never get any of our big family here.

Peace til later,

There is only 2 days left!

You read that right Family, there is only 2 days left, 2 days for you to get your tickets to the hottest show to come through West Texas this year!  The past week there have been a few changes that I am sure you will enjoy:

1. Tickets are now just $12. Weather you get them from Ralphs Records, one of the performers, or online your tickets are going to be just $12.  For those of you who are students at Texas Tech University, if you show up at the door and have your student ID I will take an additional $2 off!  That means this show is just $10 for you.

2. T.O.N.E-Z has added a free T-Shirt to all VIP packages.  So for $25 you now get a 2 hour meet and greet with T.O.N.E-Z and Big Ian of Faygoluvers, a copy of his 2008-2011 Best of Underground Collab CD, and A T.O.N.E-Z T-Shirt to add to your swag.

3.  For those in attendance T.O.N.E-Z informed me last night he was going to be recording this performance for later release.  This means if you are there and front stage you will be in a future T.O.N.E-Z video release!  How sweet is that!

4.  The hottest girl in the club contest is still going down and looking to be fresh as hell as Special K hits the stage with her sidekick G and they bring the girls on stage to show off as only lettes can.  Bracket system will be in effect so you will have to blow the crowds minds.  The winner walks away with a fresh $100 bill.

So let me recap.  If you are a hot Juggalette and a student you pay $10 to get in.  Sign up for the contest and have the possibility to walk out 10 times richer!  T.O.N.E-Z has added a ton more freshness for the VIP's and crowd.  Tickets are $3 cheaper cause lets face it the economy sucks right now and we are all Family.

This is not only going to be a Family affair it is going to be a Hip Hop/Rap affair.  Lets get Jake's rocking and show Mars, T.O.N.E-Z, and our local artists how much love West Texas has for the underground.  You could go to X-Fest but why spend almost $100 to see bands who may or may not just go through the motions to get a paycheck.  The artists on this show are all hustlin trying to make it.  They are consistantly on the grind.  Let's make this show Hype.  Lets get drunk, have some fun, and spend some good old fashioned "Family Time"

6 more day to get tickets

Alright people we have just 6 more days for you to get your tickets to the hottest underground show this month!

We have VIP tickets still available for just $25.  That includes a meet and greet with none other than T.O.N.E-Z the day of the show, a copy of his 2008-2011 Underground Collabs CD, and getting some of your stuff autographed!  He is definitely a cool dude to hang out with and the VIP is worth the extra $10 for the CD alone.

Then the show itself is going to be a great party with artists from the Lubbock area such as SKSCC crew, Black Project Productions very own 806 Outlaw and Narkotixxx, Mickey Mangles aka Sikone, Draztik the Terrible, the DRP and last but definitely not least them boyz from Worldz Kollide Records will be in the house!  The headliners can't be beat.  First we have T.O.N.E-Z.  He hails from New York and is most popular for his hit track "Long Hard Times to Come" which happens to be the theme song for the wildly popular hit show on FX called Justified.  He earned an emmy nomination for the song and became the first rapper ever nominated in that category.  He brings that East Coast Flavor to this show.  Next is Mars.  He came through here with Boondox not to long ago and tore it up.  I did an interview with him on that tour and you can hear that here.  He is coming from the West Coast and bringing that horrorcore we all love.  He just released the Zodiac Mixtape on March 20 and is most definitely a CD you need in your collection.  He is cool as hell to and we are so happy to have him on the show.

But that's not all that is going down!  Jakes has a fully stocked bar so you can come and get tore up during the show.

Finally we are having a contest to find the hottest girl in the club.  It is super easy.  Buy your ticket, come to the show and sign up for the contest, get on stage and we will let the crowd vote.  The winner will receive a $100 prize.  How easy is that!  A $15 investment and you could walk out with a Benjamin in your pocket.

So get your tickets now!  Tickets are also available at Ralph's Records in Lubbock, TX or by contacting any of the openers or me.  Super easy to score tickets to the show.

I look forward to meeting all my family at this show.

The Underground and Family

As many of you know I have been a Juggalo for a long time.  I have noticed a lot of changes in the fanbase and the mentality of the fans.  Which is one of the major reasons I created this blog.  I wanted to remind the Family why we are all Juggalos.  All of us are drawn to the underground for a lot of different reasons.  Some for the sense of community.  Some for the love of the music.  Some just because they don't fit anywhere else.  When I found the music it changed me.  I have found a lot of comfort in the music, sense of community, and overall love I have experienced.  I found a place where everyone who comes in is welcomed.  Where it dsoesn't really matter where you came from, who your parents are, or why you are down.  All that matters is that you are who you are.  No expectations.  You wanna wear paint, do it.  You don't wanna wear paint, don't.  You wanna buy the merch go ahead.  This community allows you to be yourself, whatever you might be.
In the past few years things have changed, and not for the better.  We now are classified as a gang.  Why you might ask, well because a few people who don't embrace the family or the message of the music have done a lot of really bad crap in the name of Juggalos everywhere.  Now a few bad apples will spoil any bunch but instead of the family bonding together and changing the opinions of the masses there is a growing population of rebellious teen/20 somethings that have decided to act out against the tag negatively instead of handling it right.  Now not all young fans are that way but I am seeing this growing trend and feel it is my place as a veteran Juggalo to say something.  Instead of screaming "Fuck the police" and flipping off the world we need to do the right things to make people see us in a different light.  Psychopathic records has made this effort and we need to follow their example.  Last Christmas they had a toy drive and a month ago they had Juggalo day and performed at a homeless shelter.  They did these things not because they were getting paid to do it but becuse they wanted the"real" world to see us in a good light.  They are showing us the right way to change peoples minds about out Family.

I try everyday to make sure I do things that are going to make us as Juggalos and Juggalettes look good.  I don't throw up gang signs, flip people off for looking at my hatchet, scream obscenities for no reason, etc.  I don't do drugs, drink, or smoke but those are personal choices.  If you do those things you have the right and I think you can do those things, although drugs are illegal at this time.  By wearing the hatchet we have a bullseye on us from the jump, why would we do anything to further the BS that we are all losers or gang bangers by doing stupid stuff?  If you do positive things and still rep the hatchet then we all look good.  The more positive things that happen while people rep our Family crest the better we will all be.

I have begun booking and promoting shows here in West Texas.  Since starting this process I have found another disturbing trend among our Family, Family ripping off Family.  I am currently working with T.O.N.E-Z and MARS to do a show in Lubbock on April 21.  When I began to book the openers I kept getting asked how much money I was going to charge them for a 20 min set.  I was stunned.  Why on Earth would I charge a local underground act any money to fill a 20 min set I need to have booked.  Perhaps if it was a major record label name or more mainstream I might consider it, but even then it would be unlikely.  By filling that 20 min slot in the show they are helping me out.  On top of that if they promote the hell out of the show and sell a ton of tickets I make sure they get a cut of the profits, thus they are getting paid to fill a slot.  All of those people that emailed seemed to think it was normal and ok that so-called Family was charging them to play a show.  Promoter/bookers should never make their profit off openers, those acts have enough costs in just making the music that charging them is just low.

When I put out my flyer for the show I did not realize that one of my openers had been working on being a part of another show the same day.  But because I had all my stuff already confirmed they chose my show.  The other promoter and their friends took to facebook and any other social media they could to basically say I was stepping on their turf, stealing their openers, and taking money out of their pocket.  The biggest problem is they didn't even know who I was.  They thought one of my openers was booking/promoting the show and due to prior problems decided to rip the show apart without knowing who was actually promoting it.  We are all trying to get the underground noticed and there is no reason that anyone should bad mouth another show.  There is enough shows coming through any city that more than one promoter can work there.  There just has to be COMMUNICATION between these promoters to make sure that openers are not double booked, venues are not being fought over, and the shows are all successful.

These issues have all been resolved once I was communicating with the people involved.  My point in this whole blog is that as a community and Family we need to look out for each other.  No one else is going to do it for us.  If you know of a show in your area promote it!  If you want to hel with a show ask the promoter/booker.  There is a ton of cost involved in these projects and all help is most definitely appreciated.

Lets keep our group in the positive.  There is no reason to commit crimes, tag buildings, rob people, etc and then claim the hatchet like a badge of honor.  Lets do all we can to change the idea people have of juggalos.  Only we can change that perception.

MMFWCL,

Juggalotus
